Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience.
—Colossians 3:12 ESV
A kind act, much like an astonishing piece of art, can significantly change you and the trajectory of your life. Lancia Smith’s kindness has had this impact on me.
What is the purpose of your poetry?
That was the question you proposed to me.
A question that became my golden key
Like in a George MacDonald fairytale:
You’re the wise woman, the incarnate muse
Unfolding the path to my destiny,
Cultivating a budding promise
That’s leafing in the depths of this poet
To unsheathe beauty for all to know it.
You have voiced that my voice is of value
Even before I penned one poem for you.
What an act of uncommon charity
For you called me to live out my calling—
That is the purpose of my poetry.
