I see God
in the spilled colors of another autumn sunset
and the bewildering greatness
of far-flung galaxies
and in newborns greeting the world
for the first time.
And I see God
in the crest-fallen eyes of a man bent low,
disoriented by addiction and shame,
who still believes his life
is worth the risk of
trying one more time.
