the life of a cultivator ~ one who chooses life and cultivates it even at cost, for herself and for others. She makes beauty out of suffering, and merriment out of the ordinary. Leslie won victory over her battle with cancer just before dawn on April 14, 2023, and crossed the threshold into the presence of I AM, there to receive her promised reward & rest.

Leslie lived in a century-old row home in Lancaster City, PA with her husband Ned and her two dogs, Pevensie and Milly-Molly-Mandy. She and Ned are the parents of three grown daughters. Leslie gave years of her beautiful life to homeschooling, classroom teaching, and producing high school and children’s theater, then later took up her keyboard and camera. Her most perfect day would be walking somewhere in Northern Ireland where she could, in one day, traverse with Ned over green fields and farmers’ lanes, through breeze-kissed woods, and over rocks and sandy beaches.

Leslie was as generous in gathering words and sharing them as she was in effervescent presence. Wild Things and Castles in the Sky: A Guide to Choosing the Best Books for Children, co-edited with daughter Carey and friend Théa Rosenburg, was published through Square Halo Books in April 2022. Her second book The Goodness of the Lord in the Land of Living: Selected Poems was published in 2023. Leslie contributed her work also to The Black Barn Online, Story Warren, Anselm Society, and Calla Press.
