ancia E. Smith is a writer, photographer, speaker, and publisher. Founder of Cultivating Oaks Press, LLC, she is Executive Director of Cultivating and its fellowship of content creators, The Maker’s Project. With 43 years of sobriety, Lancia has done long-term support counseling for the bereaved, trauma and abuse survivors, and recovering addict and alcoholics. She has gratefully served in executive management, church leadership, school boards, and art & faith organizations for over 40 years. Throughout her own recovery process, Lancia has been privileged to mentor and disciple individuals seeking a whole and recovered life rooted in Christ.
In this chapter of their life as empty-nesters, Lancia and Peter make their home in the Black Forest of Colorado Springs where they spend most of their “non-work” time restoring an old house to a happier condition and restoring the land it sits on to its potential beauty. They welcome a merry stream of guests to The Havens, cherish their resident wildlife, and keep company with 200 Ponderosa pine trees, several thousand books in their home library, and two beloved black cats. Lancia loves design; road trips; being read aloud to by Peter; epic soundtracks, beautifully bound books, gardens, photography, and the works of C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, and George MacDonald. She holds and maintains an abiding place in her heart for cultivators everywhere.
